In the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, Division of Scientific Services this class is accountable for assisting in the direction of the Identification Services operations which is responsible for the firearms, latent prints and automated fingerprints identification system (AFIS), electronic and digital imaging, document and imprint and computer forensic units.
Receives administrative direction from the Deputy Director of Identification Services or other administrative official of higher grade.
Assists with directing staff and operations of the firearms, latent prints and automated fingerprints identification system (AFIS), electronic and digital imaging, document and imprint and computer forensic units.
Nine (9) years of professional experience in forensic analysis of evidentiary material with expertise in at least one (1) of the following forensic disciplines:
Firearms and NIBIN (National Integrated Ballistic Information Network), electronic and digital imaging, latent prints and AFIS (Automated Fingerprints Identification System), questioned documents, footwear and tire track imprint and/or computer forensics.
Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been in a lead capacity guiding the activities of professional forensic science laboratory personnel.
NOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of a Forensic Science Examiner 2.
