PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In state facilities this class is accountable for receiving training in clinical psychology in order to gain experience in the administration of psychometric tests, diagnostic techniques and therapeutic methods as well as basic and applied psychological research.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the close supervision of the Director of Psychological Services or other licensed psychologist of higher grade.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Receives training and practice in methods and techniques of psychology by attending seminars and directly participating in patient/client care;
- Assists in administration and scoring of psychometric and diagnostic tests of intelligence, performance, aptitude and personality;
- Writes interpretive reports on condition and progress of patients/clients;
- Makes clinical observations of behavior of patients/clients;
- Performs individual and group psychotherapy as well as other psychotherapeutic services under supervision;
- Studies principles and methods of and assists in a program of basic and applied psychological research;
- Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Candidates must currently be enrolled in a Doctoral degree program in psychology or a recertification program in professional psychology.
APPOINTMENT
The term of appointment to positions in this class shall be one year or its equivalent. In no case shall part time experience be greater than three (3) years.
