In a state health care facility this class is accountable for acting as a working supervisor for the transport services staff by coordinating activities related to patient safety and the transportation of patients, specimens, equipment, medical records and supplies.
Works under the general supervision of an employee of higher grade.
Leads/supervises an assigned shift of transport staff or other employees as assigned.
Two (2) years of experience in a medical setting involving direct patient care (such as Certified Nurse’s Aide or multi-skilled patient technician) and the appropriate medical office support duties providing the necessary skill and ability to perform the duties listed above.
Incumbents in this class are required to lift patients (minimum of fifty (50) pounds), walk for sustained periods of time (at least 45 minutes per hour) and have some exposure to communicable and/or infectious diseases. Considerable effort may be required in assisting/lifting of patients.
