PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
At the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities, the University of Connecticut or University of Connecticut Health Center this class is accountable for performing general routine clerical, office or service work.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the immediate supervision of an employee of higher rank who assigns work in detail and reviews work during progress and upon completion for conformance with instructions.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Performs general routine clerical or office work such as filing, sorting and typing or performs a wide variety of routine service work such as checking and cleaning of instruments in an office, laboratory, library or storeroom, or general farm or maintenance work;
- Runs errands as requested;
- May act as receptionist or hostess at student union or at college or university functions;
- May be required to maintain routine records;
- May answer telephone;
- Performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Ability to carry out written and oral instructions.
