The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) invites its qualified agency employees to apply for the position of Transportation Maintainer 3 (Skilled Tree Climber). This position is responsible for performing highly skilled tree climber duties in the maintenance of brush and tree cutting and clearing along state roadways and highways. It is a 37.5 hour position that is located in the Westport Maintenance Facility. The hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Incumbents in this class must be willing to accept assignment to emergency duties, including snow and ice removal, whenever his or her services are needed; mandatory winter overtime from November 1 through April 30. Incumbents in this class will be required to have a 30-mile residency from the job location.
Applicants invited to interview will be requested to supply a copy of their Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B, with Tank Endorsement, valid Medical Examiner's Card (MEC); and a thoroughly completed Connecticut Department of Transportation Commercial Driver Supplement (CTDOT-CDL-1).

*For employees in the classified service, permanent status is obtained after successful completion of a working test period. for employees in the unclassified service, permanent status is obtained after serving in a position for at least 6 months (full time equivalent).
