The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) invites its qualified agency employees to apply for the position of Transportation Crew Leader (Highway Maintenance) located at the Wallingford Maintenance Facility. The hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., 37.5 hours per week.
Incumbents in this class must be willing to accept assignment to emergency duties, including snow and ice removal whenever needed; mandatory winter overtime from November 1 through April 30. applicants invited to interivew will be requested to supply a copy of their CDL Class A or B, with Tank endorsement, valid Medical Examiner's Card (MEC).
In order to be considered for this job opening, you must be a current State of CT employee of the Department of Transportation, who has permanent state status* and meet the Minimum Qualifications as listed on the job opening. You must specify your qualifications on your application.
*For employees in the classified service, permanent status is obtained after successful completion of a working test period. For employees in the unclassified service, permanent status is obtained after serving in a position for at least six months (full-time equivalent).

Knowledge of materials, equipment and approved methods of surface treatment, surface and shoulder betterments, concrete work, guide rail construction, drainage construction and maintenance; knowledge of approved methods of filling joints, patching, snow removal and sanding ice, and erosion control; ability to make minor bridge repairs; interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills; ability to utilize computer software; some supervisory ability.
Two (2) years of skilled experience in the maintenance and repair of highways.
Note: For State Employees the General Experience is interpreted at the level of Transportation Maintainer 2.
