The mission of the State of Connecticut, Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) is to ensure a fair and equitable marketplace as well as safe products and services for consumers in the industries that it regulates. DCP's Gaming Division is charged with ensuring the integrity of all gaming activities and compliance with statutes and regulations governing such activities and compliance with the Tribal/State Compacts.
The Gaming Division is currently accepting applications for a full time Gaming Regulation Supervisor to support the regulation of legalized Pari-Mutuel activities within the State of Connecticut. The Gaming Division is charged with ensuring the integrity of Pari-Mutuel gambling operations and compliance with statutes and regulations governing such activities. The Gaming Regulation Supervisor will supervise employees tasked with ensuring compliance with agency policy, procedures, and security regulations and providing information and assistance to licensees, the public and employees. Gaming Regulation Supervisors will work collaboratively with other Supervisors and employees within the Gaming Division as well as licensed vendors to accomplish the missions of the DCP Gaming Division. Additionally, this position may be tasked with the same duties described above but also applied to legalized Sports Wagering initiatives currently pending legislative consideration.
This position is based at 450 Columbus Blvd. in Hartford, CT.
The duration of each scheduled shift will be eight or more hours. An average scheduled work week will be 40 hours or more.

Selected candidates must have an operable motor vehicle and valid driver's license and must be willing to travel including to assignments during all forms of inclement weather conditions.
Selected candidates must be available for all shift assignments, which may be assigned on a rotating basis, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Must be able to obtain and retain "COLLECT" (Connecticut On-Line Law Enforcement Communications Teleprocessing) Certification. In addition to the checking of references and of facts stated in the application, a thorough background investigation of each candidate will be made before persons are certified for appointment.

In the Department of Consumer Protection, this class is accountable for supervising employees engaged in planning, organizing and developing programs to carry out the activities of one of the major sections of the Gaming Division.
Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews the work of staff; provides staff training and assistance; conducts performance evaluations; determines priorities and plans work; establishes and maintains procedures; develops or makes recommendations on the development of policies and standards; acts as liaison with other operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures; prepares reports and correspondence; reviews and evaluates reports involving rules violations, regulations, procedures, policies and statutes and makes recommendations; may provide testimony at contested case hearings as requested; may investigate more serious public complaints and effects resolutions when possible; performs related duties as required.
Considerable knowledge of relevant agency policies and procedures; considerable knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations; considerable knowledge of pari-mutuel industry and operations; considerable knowledge of casino industry and operations; considerable knowledge of charitable games organizations and operations; some investigative ability; considerable interpersonal skills; considerable oral and written communication skills; ability to utilize computer software; supervisory ability.
Eight (8) years of experience in business administration or investigatory work for a business organization or regulatory or governmental agency.
Three (3) years of the General Experience must have been at the level of Consumer Protection Gaming Regulation Officer or Consumer Protection Charitable Games Liaison Officer.
College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
Incumbents in this class may be exposed to some risk of injury from assaultive or abusive patrons.
