The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) invites its qualified agency employees to apply for the position of Transportation District Services Agent 2. This is a 40 hour position that is located in the Special Services Unit of the District IV Highway Operations, Office of Maintenance. The work hours are Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
This successful candidate will be responsible for acting as a working lead and/or for performing the most complex tasks in investigations of road conditions, issuance of construction permits or other traffic regulatory measures. Travel to all locations throughout District IV is also required.
In order to be considered for this job opening, you must be a current State of CT employee of the Department of Transportation, who has permanent state status*, and meet the Minimum Qualifications as listed on the job opening. You must specify your qualifications on your application.
*For employees in the classified service, permanent status is obtained after successful completion of a working test period. For employees in the unclassified service, permanent status is obtained after serving in a position for at least six months (full-time or full-time equivalent).

LEAD LEVEL: As assigned by a supervisor distributes, prioritize, oversees and reviews office unit work; provides staff training and assistance; conducts or assists in conducting performance evaluations; acts as liaison with operating units, agencies, consultant staffs and other outside officials regarding unit office policies and standards; prepares reports and correspondence; performs related duties as required.
ADVANCED WORKING LEVEL: Investigates requests for encroachment permits on work affecting state highway rights of way; coordinates permit investigations to incorporate specifications of units affected; confers with contractors, engineers, property owners and others concerning construction and rights of way plans; checks agreements, applications, forms, collateral permits, and related documents for accuracy and sufficiency; recommends and writes permits for work to be done; investigates traffic complaints; conducts surveys and investigates major traffic generators including rotary installations, traffic signals, channelizing islands, turning movements, hazardous locations and fatal accident sites; compiles and analyzes traffic statistics and makes recommendations; prepares detailed technical reports, graphical and tabular data and charts to support recommendations; recommends detours and alternate routes; conducts site inventory of road signs; attends public hearings pertaining to traffic control; performs related duties as required.
Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been in the inspection of complex highway construction, reconstruction, maintenance and/or drainage projects or traffic control studies.
