The State of Connecticut, Department of Correction (DOC) is seeking to hire a highly motivated and experienced licensed Professional Counselor for York Correctional Institution located in East Lyme, CT.
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
This position is full time and offered on a second shift schedule, Monday through Friday (35 hours) 3:00pm - 10:00 PM with weekend & holiday rotation.
This is a hazardous duty position. Selected candidates will be required to attend a 14-week hazardous duty training at the Maloney Center for Training & Staff Development located in Cheshire, CT.

OUR FACILITY
The York Correctional Institution is a high-security facility. It serves as the state's only institution for female offenders. It serves all superior courts in Connecticut and manages all pretrial and sentenced female offenders, whatever their security level may be.
The programming units at the facility have an extensive array of positive interventions for the population, including the 80-bed intensive inpatient drug treatment unit, the Marilyn Baker House as well as a Hospice program which trains inmate volunteers to provide end of life care to fellow offenders.
YOUR ROLE
Professional Counselors within the correctional setting work within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team comprised of social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists and APRN's, as well as medical personnel and custody staff, all sharing the common goal of providing high quality, service-oriented care.
Our Professional Counselors provide a range of clinical and case management functions to citizens entering the custody of the DOC. We provide:

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the minimum qualifications on listed within the job classification and hold an active and current Professional Counselor license in the State of Connecticut at the time of application.
