The State of Connecticut, Department of Developmental Services (DDS) - Central Office - is recruiting a Curriculum Manager located in Wallingford, CT.  

Position Highlights:
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Frist (1st) shift
  • Monday - Friday
  • Must be flexible in order to meet the needs of the agency
The Role:
The Curriculum Manager leads all the efforts to develop and coordinate the compliance training for the department staff. This position is a part of the DDS Education Support and Staff Development and a part of the Division of Quality and Systems Improvement at Central Office.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In a state agency this class is accountable for directing curriculum development and training related program administration.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Directs staff and operations of training and staff development programs;
  • Performs specialized duties in area of training and staff development;
  • Provides consultative services to agency administrators and training staff in developing and conducting needs analysis; 
  • Develops action plans;
  • Develops, reviews and evaluates curriculum and training courses;
  • Prepares, reviews and monitors contracts for training services; 
  • Prepares statistical evaluation summaries, feasibility study reports, program projections and other reports as needed; 
  • Participates in the recruitment and hiring of staff, including outreach, interview and selection;
  • May teach in areas of expertise;
  • Performs related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Considerable knowledge of
    • principles and techniques of in-service training and staff development;
    • educational methods and techniques; 
  • Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations;
  • Considerable
    • interpersonal skills;
    • oral and written communication skills; 
  • Considerable ability to assess training needs and determine objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Seven (7) years of professional employment in in-service training, human resource development or adult education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE

One (1) year of the General Experience must have had primary responsibility for planning, developing, coordinating or implementing an in-service training or staff development program.
NOTE: Positions at the Police Officer Standards and Training Council require this experience to be in law enforcement training programs. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED

  • College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
  • A Master's degree in a closely related field may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to candidates with the following experience: 
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Forms, SharePoint, Outlook, Word, OneDrive, and Teams
  • Experience working with CT private providers and working alongside individuals with IDD
  • Experience implementing in-service and onboard training for adult learners
  • Experience in training assessment and evaluation with ability to identify department training needs in training techniques and staff development
  • Experience with training development platforms, including but not limited to, Open Future, PowerPoint, Canva, and Articulate
  • Experience compiling and analyzing data
  • Experience with managing multiple Learning Management Systems simultaneously, i.e. SABA
  • Experience implementing coordination and scheduling
  • Video editing experience utilizing Adobe Premier Pro
  • Current Instructor certification in both PMT and CPR
