The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is currently seeking a qualified and experienced individual for the position of Research Analyst.

The Role:

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Independently perform a full range of tasks in research design and implementation;
  • Develop and implement formal research projects and assists in these activities on more comprehensive and complex research assignments;
  • Analyze, interpret and prepare data in a variety of ways;
  • Prepare narrative and statistical reports;
  • Develop computerized databases and analyzes and interprets computer generated reports.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In a state agency this class is accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks in research design and implementation.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Six (6) years of professional experience in research, data analysis or economics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED

  • College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
  • A Master's degree in economics, statistics or a closely related field may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.
  • Successful completion of a Connecticut Careers Trainee program approved by the Department of Administrative Services may be substituted for the General Experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience using Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) methodology in leading performance improvement project.
  • Experience using Root Cause Analysis for incident reviews.
  • Experience conducting population health/health equity project.
  • Experience managing and analyzing data and preparing research and QI reports.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel Power Query, Power BI, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft TEAMs, Access, and Power Point.
  • Experience working in health care setting accredited by The Joint Commission.
  • Experience with state and federal regulations pertaining to behavioral healthcare.
  • Experience utilizing interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
