WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
  • Full Time, 40 hours per week.
  • First Shift, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • Monday - Friday.
  • Location: Wethersfield
  • Hybrid telework schedules are available (combination of in office and remote work).
THE ROLE
The successful candidate will bring enthusiasm, zest, and zeal to an environment where education and learning is key! The Training Program Coordinator will be responsible for:
  • Coordinating the New Employee Orientation workshop, to include the use of group learning sessions, roleplaying, and other interactive learning techniques.
  • Developing, creating, and implementing learning materials/curriculums.
  • Designing online, and in-person classes that meet DMV policies and federal, state, and regulatory requirements.
  • Educating and preparing staff on how to fulfill the Department's mission, vision, and core principles.
  • Serving as one of the Department's primary administrators for our learning management system.
  • Assisting in coordinating and developing the New Employee Orientation Program and may assist in the revision/update of the Employee Handbook.
  • Preparing submissions for the DMV intranet, "Agency Training and Procedures Corner," regarding training efforts and initiatives.
  • Performs related duties as required.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In a state agency this class is accountable for planning, developing and implementing an entire training program.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Plans, develops, coordinates and evaluates a comprehensive training program; 
  • Establishes and coordinates training calendar; 
  • Conducts needs assessments; 
  • Develops training program objectives; 
  • Researches and develops course curricula, outlines and content; 
  • Selects and develops training methods and materials; 
  • Researches learning material and resources; 
  • Provides direction to subject matter experts utilized within training program and provides train-the-trainer services within program area; 
  • Monitors and evaluates training program outcomes including instructor performance, participant progress and consumer satisfaction; 
  • Provides technical assistance and consultation to agency managers and/or staff of organizations which participate in particular training program(s); 
  • Organizes and maintains up to date training materials for courses within training program and may coordinate distribution of materials to instructors as needed; 
  • May provide consultative services to agency managers regarding organization development; 
  • May conduct some training classes; 
  • Performs related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Considerable knowledge of
    • principles and techniques of in-service training and staff development; 
    • educational methods and techniques; 
  • Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations; 
  • Considerable
    • interpersonal skills; 
    • oral and written communication skills; 
  • Considerable ability to assess training needs and determine objectives; 
  • Ability to utilize computer software; 
  • Supervisory ability.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Six (6) years of professional experience in training, staff development or adult education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE

One (1) year of the General Experience must have primarily consisted of planning, developing, coordinating or implementing an in-service training or staff development program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED

  • College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four years for a Bachelor's degree.
  • A Master's degree in a closely related field may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience preparing, coordinating, and instructing training courses.
  • Experience organizing, coordinating, and maintaining training materials.
  • Experience preparing reports and using learning management system data analytics.
  • Experience speaking publicly in front of groups and large audiences.
  • Experience comprehending, interpreting, and applying statutes, regulations, and policies.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Articulate.
  • Experience administering and being responsible for learning management systems such as cornerstone and SABA.
  • Experience creating and developing training plans, and training curriculum.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Incumbents in this class may be required to possess specialized certifications for designated positions prior to appointment.
  • Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
  • Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
