The State of ConnecticutDepartment of Administrative Services (DAS), Bureau of Information Technology Solutions (BITS), is currently accepting applications for the position of Information Technology Analyst Trainee in support of the Department of Children and Families (DCF) in our Central Office located at 505 Hudson Street, Hartford, CT.

Please Note:
The Information Technology Analyst Trainee Program is a developmental program designed to help people obtain the experience necessary to qualify for the designated target class of Information Technology Analyst 1. The Information Technology Analyst Trainee Program is for a minimum of 1 year to a maximum of 3 years based on a candidate’s past experience and training. Candidates must possess the general experience of the target class, Information Technology Analyst 1, at the conclusion of the developmental program.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
  • This position operates on a hybrid basis, with approximately 80% of work conducted remotely and 20% in-office.
  • Monday through Friday schedule.
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
THE ROLE: 
  • Proficiency with computer operating systems and computer networks as well as applications including Office 365, Windows 10, Microsoft Teams, Footprints, Word, and Excel. 
Knowledge of:
  • Functioning and use of information systems; 
  • Major concepts and terms used in the information technology profession; 
Skills:
  • Interpersonal skills;
  • Logic and analytical skills; 
Ability to:
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records; 
  • Prepare written materials and reports;

Selection Plan

  • For current state employees, salary calculations are not necessarily comparable from one of the three branches of state government (i.e., Executive, Legislative, Judicial) to the other.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In a state agency information systems environment this class is accountable for receiving on the job training in performing technical work involving help desk functions, user support and assisting in application development.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Receives on the job training to perform tasks as outlined in the specification for the class of Information Technology Analyst 1; 
  • Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Candidates must be able to meet the experience and training requirements of the designated job class at the completion of the development program.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Visio.
  • Experience with Cisco Network Switches or Access Point Models.
  • Experience with Network DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) and DNS (Domain Name System).
  • Experience with Internet Protocol Subnetting and Addressing.
  • Experience with Customer Centric Focus, Teamwork, Communication and Problem-Solving.
