The State of Connecticut, Department of Administrative Services (DAS), Legal Services is currently accepting applications for a

Law Student Intern to support our team with legal research and review.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Monday - Friday.
  • Internship for 8-12 weeks between May and August 2025.
  • Students can work between 35-40 hours per week (maximum of 350 hours for the internship duration).
  • Hours of work must be between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM.
  • Location: 450 Columbus Boulevard in Hartford.
  • On-site work is anticipated in Hartford 3 days/week, and remote work 2 days/week.
  • Some travel to various job sites will be required. 

      THE ROLE

      Working under the direct supervision of agency attorneys, the Law Student Intern can expect to contribute to and gain knowledge of:


      • Agency legislative activities including contributing to writing the annual legislative summary and implementation plans for new statutes.
      • Agency reporting including contributing to Annual Digest of Administrative reports.
      • Agency handling of Freedom of Information (FOI) and Commissioner on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO) cases.
      • Agency handling of ethics questions from employees and development of training materials.
      • Agency procurement processes including assisting in development of contract templates.
      • Agency regulation processes including support of document research and drafting, and public comment procedures.
      • Agency led Boards and Commission meetings.
      • Agency related administrative hearings and interviews.

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

      • Law student (1L, 2L or 3L) with coursework in contract law preferred, administrative law a plus.
      • Strong written and oral communication skills.
      • Familiarity with legal research software.
      • Proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Office Suite.
      • Working effectively with diverse range of agency partners and colleagues.
