This class is responsible for the supervision of a mini/micro computer system for an assigned unit.
Supervises 2-4 Mini/Micro Computer Operators I.
Nature and Scope
This class reports to an administrative superior and is responsible for supervising the operations of a mini or micro computer operation unit. Work involves coordinating and monitoring unit activities to ensure efficient operations; training and assisting subordinates in work procedures and system capabilities; and using a mini or micro computer to produce management reports and compile administrative records. Principal contacts are with other unit staff and subordinates to ensure effective and unified processing of data.

Plans, assigns, reviews and evaluates the work of subordinates; trains subordinates in work procedures and system operations.
Ensures computer system operates at maximum efficiency by monitoring workflow and resolving problems.
Coordinates workflow of unit with other units.
Develops and modifies computer reports and forms.
Provides guidance and assistance to subordinates, superiors and co-workers in work operations and system capabilities; resolves problems concerning same.
May use mini/micro computer to produce management reports and compile and maintain administrative records.

Skill in reviewing printouts and program forms to determine the accuracy and consistency of the material being processed.
Ability to detect problems with hardware, software or user errors and rectify operator and software errors.
Ability to modify computer reports and forms.
Ability to format and produce a variety of reports.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and outside vendors.
Ability to effectively communicate orally.
Ability to operate a mini/micro computer and peripheral equipment in a LAN environment.
Ability to evaluate and respond to operational problems.
Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Mini/Micro Computer Supervisor
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Six months experience in coordinating office activities such as planning/coordinating meetings or conferences; tracking workflow and follow up; composing meeting notes; directing clients/customers; explaining services to the public and customers/clients; establishing or maintaining filing/record systems.
Six months experience in data collection which includes collecting, compiling and maintaining data from multiple sources such as files, records, databases, customers, staff or others.
Six months experience in using standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets or databases.
Six months experience in creating reports which includes combining and presenting data from multiple sources in an organized format.
Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.
