An incumbent is responsible for maintaining statistical data and preparing statistical reports.
Nature and Scope
An incumbent reports to an administrative superior and is responsible for inputing and extracting statistical data from the computer for use by supervisor in interpreting and analyzing the data and developing recommendations. An incumbent is also responsible for maintaining a computerized case registry and preparing statistical reports on the number of cases. An incumbent examines patients records in various hospitals and doctors offices in order to verify accuracy of cases reported.

Maintains computerized case registry; prepares statistical reports on the number of cases.
Verifies completeness and accuracy of reported cases by reviewing hospital and doctor's files on cases.
Inputs results of surveys into computer; extracts various statistical data from the computer.
Maintains data collected on clients counseled and tested by the program; issues related reports.
Develop procedures and implements Prevalence Studies of exposure to communicable diseases.
Edits quarterly newsletter for the purpose of distributing Aids statistics to the medical community.
Performs related work as required.

Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Statistician
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Six months experience in data collection which includes collecting, compiling and maintaining data from multiple sources such as files, records, databases, customers, staff or others.
Six months experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.
Knowledge of descriptive statistics such as the mean, median, mode or standard deviation.
