An incumbent in this class is responsible for reviewing and monitoring the work of lower level Unemployment Insurance Quality Control Auditors and for handling the most difficult cases.
Nature and Scope
A class incumbent performs with general supervision from the Manager of Unemployment Insurance Quality Control and is responsible for reviewing, validating and approving unemployment benefits eligibility criteria and payment of benefits determinations case audit results and case coding submitted by Quality Control Auditor staff. This work involves performing a thorough review and analysis of the audit documentation submitted on a case-by-case basis by Quality Control Auditor staff. A class incumbent also writes formal benefit eligibility/non-eligibility determinations to complement quality control audit findings corrective action. An incumbent may also conduct investigative audits in complex cases.

Validates and approves/disapproves audit findings submitted by Quality Control Auditor staff and case coding data prior to entry into automated data base.
Reviews completed case documents to determine and insure compliance in accordance with Quality Control methodology and that data gathered and conclusions reached are accurate and based upon a correct interpretation of applicable unemployment laws and regulations.
Reviews case findings with Quality Control Auditor staff.
Conducts audits in the most complex cases.
Assists the Quality Control Manager in answering questions from staff, assigning and reviewing work and coordinating operation of unit.

Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Unemployment Insurance Senior Quality Control Auditor Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Three years experience in accounting using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Three years experience in auditing financial records and documents in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, including assessment of internal and external controls.
Three years experience in computer assisted auditing which includes using computer programs to analyze data, select, manipulate and sort data, perform calculations, select audit samples and print reports.
Three years experience in interviewing which includes using structured or unstructured interview techniques to obtain facts, explore issues and identify courses of action.
Six months experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
