A class incumbent is responsible for providing classroom and clerical support to a teacher in an institutional education program for youth.
Nature and Scope
A class incumbent reports to an educator and is responsible for tutoring or assisting students individually or in small groups in such subjects as math, reading, and spelling, as directed by the classroom teacher. Incumbents also assist the teacher by decorating bulletin boards and may administer educational tests under the supervision of a classroom teacher. Work includes operating printers and copying machines to ensure sufficient copies of instructional materials are available. Incumbents maintain a supply room which includes inventory control of instructional materials. In addition, incumbents assist the teachers in maintaining and updating student records and files.

Tutors or assists students in specific subject areas as directed by the classroom teacher.
Administers educational tests to students under the supervision of a teacher.
Orders and maintains supplies of instructional materials and other school supplies; Maintains inventory control of supplies and materials distributed.
Maintains and updates student records and files.
Operates printers and copy machines.
Performs a variety of clerical functions to assist in the operation of the educational program at a residential facility.
