An incumbent in this class is responsible for planning, assigning, reviewing and evaluating the work of staff engaged in providing a variety of services which expedite the processing of civil and criminal petitions filed with the Family Court of Delaware.
Nature and Scope
An incumbent in this class performs under the direction of a Family Court Director and is responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of unit staff involved in the following activities: child support intake; mediation of child support, custody, visitation, imperiled Family Relations petitions; custody, visitation, presentence, bail and amenability investigations; and arbitration of criminal complaints. Work includes setting priorities and assigning cases to ensure equal distribution of caseload, reviewing case files and reports for conformance to procedure accuracy of content, timeliness and validity of recommendations; and providing input on the development, implementation and evaluation of agency programs, policies and procedures. Typical contacts are with the Division of Child Support Enforcement, Division of Child Protective Services, attorneys, judges, masters, and private Social Service agencies to resolve issues related to unit activities, provide and obtain information and explain and interpret Family Court policies, procedures and jurisdiction.

Plans and assigns cases to unit staff based on workloads, types and complexity.
Reviews and evaluates the work of staff by conducting staff meeting to discuss problem cases and reviewing reports and case files.
Determines initial and on-going needs of staff through on-the-job training and/or from outside sources.
Provides input on the development, implementation, and evaluation of agency programs, policies and procedures.
Serves as information source to community, clients and other related agencies on Court jurisdiction and services.
Collects and compiles statistical data and prepares monthly and annual unit activity reports; Prepares other special reports as required.

Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Diversion Services Supervisor Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Behavioral or Social Science or related field.
Three years experience in case management which includes assessing, planning, developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating options and services to meet an individual's human service needs using effective counseling or interviewing techniques as well as other available resources such as service plans or case management systems.
Three years experience in mediation.
Six months experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.
