The incumbent in this class is responsible for the production activities involved in printing materials using high performance printers, copy machines, collators, and bindery equipment.
Nature and Scope
The incumbent works under the general supervision of a printing supervisor or manager. Work includes the operation of high performance networked printers and full color imaging systems, high volume, programmable electronic copy machines, collators, folders, paper cutters, stitchers, bindery equipment, and other related equipment. In addition, the incumbent verifies work orders, records billing information, interacts with state agency representatives to ensure product quality, maintains inventory of supplies and materials, and performs routine maintenance on the machines and equipment. Incumbent exercises judgment in prioritizing production schedule to meet changing priorities of Department.

Operates the high volume, high performance, programmable electronic copy machines, digital printer and color imaging system.
Operates the collation and bindery equipment.
Performs maintenance and service on their equipment.
Maintains inventory of supplies and materials.
Records time and materials used for each job for proper billing purposes.
Performs routine filing responsibilities.

Knowledge of routine printing procedures; technology and software.

Ability to transfer routine printing procedures to graphic reproductions using printers, copy machines and bindery equipment.
Ability to efficiently operate and maintain equipment to produce a high quality product.
Ability to recognize and resolve conflicting priorities.
Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
Ability to keep accurate and complete records for billing and inventory purposes.

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Six months experience in operating and maintaining high performance copy machines, digital printers and color imaging system used to reproduce and enhance the quality of printed material.
