Nature and Scope
An incumbent in this class reports to an administrative superior and is responsible for overseeing the business operations of sheltered workshops for developmentally disabled clients. Work involves marketing the services of the workshops and conducting negotiations with businesses to procure contract work to be performed by disabled clients. Work includes purchasing equipment and materials, approving expenditures and monitoring expenses, and ensuring products produced by the workshop are of the highest quality.

Procures contract work for workshops by marketing the services of the workshops and conducting negotiations with businesses.
Oversees fiscal and financial matters relating to workshop operations including material and equipment purchases and repair, client wages, and contract billing.
Assesses cost of production and determines product pricing; sets production standards, and assures quality work and deadlines are maintained on all contracts.
Prepares and maintains periodic reports for administration and statistical reports related to workshop operations, and prepares and maintains records of client earnings and tax statements to meet federal regulations.
