An incumbent in this class monitors subgrant programs for compliance with state and federal regulations and provides staff support to the subcommittees of the Delaware Criminal Justice Council.
Nature and Scope
An incumbent in this class receives general supervision from a technical superior and is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in support of programs/projects which are developed and/or monitored by the Criminal Justice Council. Work includes researching problem areas identified by the Council and/or its subcommittees to determine impact on the operations of Criminal Justice agencies, monitoring agency subgrant programs for compliance with state and federal regulations, developing program operational procedures and manuals, and providing input in the development of policies for specific programs. In addition, the incumbent may be responsible for training and orienting Criminal Justice agency staff in the use of new programs, providing information on programs currently available to user agencies and community and social services organizations. Typical contacts include Court system, law enforcement, and legal and correctional agency staff for the purpose of resolving issues related to the Criminal Justice system.

Assists Council in identifying problems with Criminal Justice agencies and develops methods of resolving same.
Monitors agency subgrant programs for compliance with state and federal regulations.
Develops and drafts operating policies and procedures for proposed programs.
Trains and orients user agency staff in the policies, procedures and usage of programs.
Staffs committees and task forces involved in the research and/or investigation of issues involving Criminal Justice agencies.

Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Criminal Justice Planner Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Knowledge of criminal justice research which includes systematic study to discover and establish facts.
Knowledge of interacting with criminal justice organizations such as law enforcement, courts, corrections, parole boards, community groups, or local governments.
Knowledge of program evaluation which includes evaluating programs and services to identify problems, determine compliance and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency to ensure program goals and overall objectives are met.
Knowledge of recommending alternatives, improvements, courses of action and other changes based on findings.
