This class is responsible for supervising the daily operations and maintenance of a public shooting range.
Supervises a technical staff including one full-time and approximately 25 part-time.
Nature and Scope
A class incumbent reports to a technical administrative superior. Work involves assisting and instructing range customers; supervising and participating in grounds, building and equipment maintenance and assisting with coordination of Hunter Safety Program. In addition, an incumbent assumes daily management duties in the absence of the Rangemaster; and participates in the plan and design of range facilities.

Coordinates day-to-day staffing schedule.
Maintains supply inventory.

Ability to maintain and operate hand tools and small to mid-size tractors, mowers and related grounds maintenance equipment.
Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Assistant Rangemaster Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Six months experience in firearms use, care and safety.
Six months experience in maintaining and repairing groundskeeping or landscaping equipment such as mowers, tractors, saws, sprayers, pruners, edgers, grass shears, and trimmers.
Knowledge of operating a shooting range operation such as skeet, trap, clay, archery or target.
Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.
