Originally built to protect the ports of Wilmington and Philadelphia, Fort Delaware also became a Union prison camp during the American Civil War, housing over 10,000 Confederate prisoners of war at one time.

Grounds Maintenance: $14.00/hour- responsible for the maintenance of grounds, facilities, and equipment to include lawn mowing and custodial work, and the schedule is Monday-Friday.
Revenue Attendant: (Fee Collector): $14.00/hr. - will sell ferry tickets, park permits, and retail items, provide customer service by explaining regulations, answering visitor requests, and providing information about the park and surrounding areas.
Tram Operator: $14.00/hr.- responsible for transporting visitors to and from the fort via truck and trailer.
Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays as scheduled and must be willing to work around boats and water.
Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.
·Duties will vary for each position.
·May operate landscaping equipment and use of hand and power tools.
·May perform custodial services in restrooms, offices, and other buildings.
·May assist in electrical and plumbing maintenance.
·May set-up, monitor, and clean-up park programs and special events.
·May collect appropriate fees and account for money.
·May maintain and compile fiscal and narrative records and reports.
·May safely load visitors and staff and transport them to and from the fort.
·Provide excellent customer service and park information to visitors.
·Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability, and good communication skills.
·Must be able to work independently.
·Other duties as assigned.

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Grounds Maintenance
1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
2. Experience using landscaping equipment and hand or power tools. (Grounds only)
3. Possession of a valid Driver’s License (not suspended, revoked, cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
Revenue Attendant
1. Six months customer service experience.
2. Six months experience in sales and cash handling.
3. Six months experience in using standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets, or databases.
Tram Operator
1. At least 18 years of age.
2. Six months experience operating a truck and trailer.
3. Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked, cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
