Chief Staff Attorney

Summary Statement

This position will work with the Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, and Masters in advisory and administrative functions concerning court-wide initiatives aimed to reduce workload. These initiatives may include proactive mediation efforts, research on subject matter jurisdiction and statutory reform, assistance with discovery disputes, reviewing motions to expedite, and other responsibilities assigned by the Chancellor.

Preferred Qualification

Preference will be given to applicants who have experience litigating in the Court of Chancery, working in public policy or on legislation, and advising on court rules or procedures.

Essential Functions

Handle duties as assigned by the Chancellor to better establish a work life balance in the Court of Chancery. 

Job Requirements

  1. Graduation from an accredited law school and minimum of five years of work experience as an attorney. 
  2. Admission to the Delaware Bar, with certification of good standing status. 
  3. Excellent research and writing skills. 
  4. Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  5. At least one legal writing sample of at least ten pages submitted as an attachment to the application.  
  6. At least two letters of reference.

Conditions of Hire

  • A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.
  • Direct deposit of paychecks is required as a condition of hire.
