The Delaware State Parks Beach Patrol is an elite group of men and women responsible for ocean rescue and beach safety at Delaware's award-winning state park beaches. Our beach patrol members receive advanced, nationally certified training, work in some of the most beautiful locations in the state, meet lifelong friends, compete in lifeguard competitions, and serve the people of Delaware, all while getting paid and having fun!

The position manages the Lifeguard Program which includes recruiting, hiring, training, and ensuring certification of lifeguards employed by Delaware State Parks. This position will build an effective team of lifeguards at each beach location to ensure the safety of individuals in an open water environment. The position will travel for recruitment during the off season and will coordinate with waterpark management to ensure adequate staffing, safety, and training of lifeguards at the waterpark. Other duties will be to supervise, schedule and evaluate daily lifeguard operations at beaches across multiple locations in the State, and are responsible for related water safety programs, ensuring all state park lifeguards meet national certification standards including training, maintaining proper equipment and preparedness, and that appropriate water safety standards are maintained. The position will also coordinate and lead in-classroom education year-round. During the off-season, focus will be on recruitment efforts and planning to ensure continued success of the Lifeguard Program.
