But Cape Henlopen offers more than just the ocean and bays.  A wide selection of activities and programs for children and adults are led by Seaside Nature Center staff each week.

Summary Statement

A variety of seasonal park positions are available at Cape Henlopen State Park, which may include the following:

Campground Registrar/Store Attendants: responsible for all aspects of camp registration, database management, and camp store operations.

Campground Store Manager: responsible for managing all ordering, inventory tracking and staff scheduling for the Cape Henlopen Campground Store.

Custodial/Grounds: responsible for the custodial cleaning of bathrooms, facilities and offices, along with the maintenance of grounds, facilities and equipment in the park.

Revenue Attendant (Fee Collector): responsible for welcoming park visitors, disseminating information, and collecting and accounting for park entrance fees.

Office/Admin Support Staff: will sell park permits, provide customer service by explaining regulations, answering visitor requests, needs and complaints, and providing information about the park and surrounding areas.

Work is performed indoors and outdoors, weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled to meet facility needs.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.

  • May collect appropriate rental fees.
  • May register campers into computer database and generate reports as needed.
  • May assist with maintenance and rental equipment.
  • May perform grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, athletic field maintenance, landscape bed maintenance, trash removal, vegetation removal, leaf removal and snow/ice removal.
  • May perform custodial services in restrooms, offices and other buildings.
  • Provide excellent customer service and park information to visitors.
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently, willing to work in remote areas.
  • Duties will vary for each position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Applicants for all positions must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

Campground Registrar/Store Attendants/Office Staff
1. Six months customer service experience.
2. Six months experience in cash handling and writing receipts.
3. Six months experience in standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets or databases.

Campground Store Manager
1. Six-month experience in interpreting rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
2. Six-months experience of supervising staff or volunteers.
3. Six-month experience in office operations and functions such as operating office machines, answering phones, directing calls and taking messages; file maintenance; maintaining and updating supplies; scheduling.
4. Six-month experience in cash handling, writing receipts.
5. Six-month experience using Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, and Publisher.

Maintenance – Custodial/Grounds
1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
2. Experience using landscaping equipment and hand or power tools. (Grounds only)
3. Possession of a valid driver’s license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving.

Revenue Attendant
1. Knowledge of working with money and making change.
2. Knowledge of math such as addition and subtraction.
