Introduction


The State Park Commission (now the Division of Parks and Recreation) began managing the land as Indian River State Park in 1965, but it didn't become Delaware Seashore State Park until 1967.

Summary Statement

A variety of seasonal park positions are available at Delaware Seashore State Park, which may include the following:

1.     Campground Registrar: ($15.00/hr) - responsible for all aspects of camp registration, database entry.

2.     Campground Store Attendant: ($15.00/hr) - responsible for all aspects of camp store operations; point-of-sale cash register duty, stocking shelves.

3.     Revenue Attendant (Fee Collector): ($13.25/hr) - responsible for welcoming park visitors, disseminating information, and collecting and accounting for park entrance fees.

4.     Custodial: - ($13.25/hr) responsible for the custodial cleaning of bathrooms, facilities, and offices.

5.     Grounds & Maintenance: ($14.00/hr) – responsible for the maintenance of grounds, facilities, and equipment in the park.

6.     Administrative Support: ($15.00/hr) - responsible for selling park permits, providing customer service by explaining regulations, answering visitor requests, needs and complaints, and providing information about the park and surrounding area.

7.     Beach Accessories Rental Attendant (Umbrella Stand Attendant): ($13.25/hr) – responsible for renting beach umbrellas and chairs to park visitors; accounting for rentals and inventory.

Work is performed indoors and outdoors, weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled to meet facility needs.

·       May collect appropriate rental fees.

·       May register campers into computer database and generate reports as needed.

·       Provide excellent customer service and park information to visitors.

·       Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability, and good communication skills.

·       Must be able to work independently.

·       Duties will vary for each position.

·       Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Applicants for all positions must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

Revenue Attendant/Campground Store Attendant

1.     Knowledge of working with money and making change.

2.     Knowledge of math such as addition and subtraction.

3.     Knowledge of customer service.

Campground Registrar

1.     Six months customer service experience.

2.     Six months experience in cash handling and writing receipts.

3.     Six months experience in standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets, or databases.

Maintenance - Custodial/Grounds

1.     Must be at least 18 years of age.

2.     Experience using landscaping equipment and hand or power tools. (Grounds only)

3.     Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked, or cancelled, or disqualified from driving.)

Administrative Support

1.     Six months customer service experience.

2.     Six months experience in cash handling and writing receipts.

3.     Six months experience in standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets, or databases.

Beach Accessories Rental Attendant

1.      Work outdoors

2.      Six months experience in cash handling.

3.      Six months customer service experience.

4.      Ability to carry and install beach umbrellas and chairs to visitors.

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
