DNREC is Now Offering Sign-on Bonuses for Engineers!
The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) recognizes its Engineers are a highly valued resource and play a critical role in protecting public health and the environment. For that reason, we are now providing monetary recruitment incentives to new DNREC Engineers in accordance to our Recruitment Program Policy and Procedures.
The program provides recruitment incentives as follows:
Sign-On Bonus– Incentives are based on the position classification:
· $4,000 Engineer I
· $5,000 Engineer II
· $6,000 Engineer III
· $7,000 Engineer IV
Incentives are paid in two installments. One installment after three months of employment and the second installment after eighteen months from the initial date of employment. New employees accepting this recruitment bonus must commit to two consecutive years of employment with DNREC in the Engineer I-IV series. Must be a new hire to the State of Delaware or new to the Engineer classification series within the State of Delaware

This Engineer position is with DNREC’s Division of Watershed Stewardship’s Shoreline and Waterway Management Section. This position supports the Cooperating Technical Partners Grant that is administered through the Federal Emergency Management Agency. This grant creates partnerships with participating communities in the National Flood Insurance Program with the overall goal of maintaining up to date flood hazard maps and providing community outreach.

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
1. Possession of a Bachelors Degree or higher in Civil or Environmental Engineering OR official notice of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination in Civil or Environmental Engineering administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).
2. At least four years experience in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
3. Knowledge of engineering project management which includes planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the status of engineering projects.
The State of Delaware recognizes the value of telework and flexible working schedules. This position is eligible for Alternative Work Schedules according to the State of Delaware’s Alternative Work Arrangement Policy. More information will be shared at the time of interview.
As a condition of hire, applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in the engineering discipline specified in the job requirements section OR possess official notice of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination in the engineering discipline specified in the job requirements section administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) upon hire.
