Deputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.

Summary Statement

The Criminal Division seeks a Deputy Attorney General to serve as Unit Head for the Special Victims Unit in Sussex County.  This position reports to the Sussex County Chief Prosecutor.  

Essential Functions

This Unit Head supervises the Deputy Attorneys General, Legal Assistants, and Legal Administrative Specialists assigned to the Special Victims Unit in Sussex County.  This Unit Head will have their own caseload of homicide, child abuse, and sexual assault cases, in addition to handling administrative and personnel functions, and overseeing the cases within the Unit.  This Unit Head works closely with law enforcement, child protection agencies, and the Courts to address issues with the cases. This Unit Head must be on call and available to respond to law enforcement and Deputy Attorneys General after hours. 

Job Requirements

Interested applicants should have substantial felony trial experience, experience working with victims, and the ability to evaluate criminal cases, to determine resolutions, and to anticipate legal issues.  This position requires prosecution skills, leadership qualities and substantial interpersonal skills.  Interested applicants must be a member of the Delaware Bar.
