Introduction

Climate change is a huge, complicated issue. In tackling a challenge of this scale, Delaware is taking action across state agencies to avoid the worst impacts of climate change, and to fortify the state against the impacts we already have begun to experience.

Summary Statement

This position will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of climate change mitigation and adaptation projects while assisting the Climate and Sustainability Team in implementing Delaware’s Climate Action Plan (CAP). Specific projects may include working on Delaware's Climate Pollution Reduction Planning Grant, contributing to Delaware’s 2025 CAP, community sustainability plans, clean jobs workforce development initiatives, and building relationships with partners to improve Diversity, Equity, Justice, and Inclusion (DEJI) in Delaware's response to climate change. Assignments will also include work on other policies and programs focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving community resiliency through climate change adaptation.

Essential Functions

·       Research and analyze policies, data and information.

·       Evaluate costs, benefits, and consequences of environmental and transportation policies.

·       Develop forms, spreadsheets, records and reports to document progress of adaptation recommendations.

·       Coordinate between agencies for meetings, site visits and data needs.

·       Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.

·       Other duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Six months experience in conducting research.
  2. Six months experience in using standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets or databases.
  3. Knowledge of climate change, environmental, and/or clean transportation policies.
  4. Knowledge of interpreting rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  5. Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

Additional Posting Information

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
