Summary Statement

The Disaster Recovery Specialist is responsible for assisting State efforts to develop, implement and coordinate disaster recovery plans and tests for all mission-critical IT environments. 

Specifically, the Disaster Recovery Specialist is responsible for working with State agencies to develop, test, evaluate and implement disaster recovery plans and continuity of operations plans. The Disaster Recovery Specialist will assist in ensuring system and application recovery efforts are accomplished within defined timeframes. In addition, the Disaster Recovery Specialist will train agency personnel on aspects of disaster recovery planning and continuity of operations process.

The Disaster Recovery Specialist will report to the DTI Team Director.

Selective Requirement

Selective Requirements must be met in addition to the job requirements.  Applicants who do not possess the selective requirement will not be qualified.

  • Applicant must possess a high school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualification

  • Possess an associate degree in management information systems (MIS), Computer Science, or related field

Job Requirements

Job Requirements for Disaster Recovery Specialist

  • Possess a minimum of 3 years’ work experience in planning
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year experience in disaster recovery and contingency plan testing and execution
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year experience developing and interpreting business impact analysis
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year experience in conducting risk assessments and developing risk mitigation action plans
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year experience with developing and implementing disaster recovery plans
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year experience in defining and negotiating statements of work for contractual purposes
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year experience conducting both formal and informal training

Conditions of Hire

Criminal background check: A satisfactory fingerprint based criminal background check administered by the Delaware State Police is required as a Condition of Hire.
