Introduction


The Division of Parks and Recreation oversees more than 26,000 acres in 17 state parks, the Brandywine Zoo and Baynard Stadium. The Division manages 10 nature preserves and 12 other sites outside of the parks. And it monitors over 100 conservation easements protecting more than 4,000 acres. The division protects cultural and historic resources. And it provides a wide variety of recreational facilities for Delawareans and visitors.

Summary Statement

This seasonal position is responsible for daily administrative support for the Operations, Management & Programming Section of Delaware State Parks. This includes utilizing word processing, spreadsheet and database computer applications, routing incoming phone calls and inquiries, document tracking, and all Administrative Support functions including, but not limited to: filing, archiving, document creation/updates, data entry, mailing, creating and organizing meetings, telephone support, constituent and legislative contact, taking minutes, and providing required support to Delaware State Parks throughout the State.

Essential Functions

  • Provides telephone support.
  • Includes filing, document creations, updates data entry, tracking paperwork.
  • Constituent and Legislative Contact.
  • Taking Meeting Minutes.
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

Park Administrative Support
  1. Six months customer service experience.
  2. Six months experience in cash handling, writing receipts.
  3. Six months experience in using standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets or databases.
  4. Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
