Deputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.

Summary Statement

The Criminal Division seeks a Deputy Attorney General to serve as Assistant Unit Head (AUH) for the New Castle County Felony Trial Unit in New Castle County.

This AUH will serve with 2 other AUHs in assisting with the management of the New Castle County Felony Trial Unit which consists of 15 Deputy Attorneys General, 6 Legal Assistants and 6 Legal Administrative Specialists.  The New Castle County Felony Trial Unit prosecutes all felonies that occur in New Castle County except for homicides, sex offenses, and those related to domestic violence.  An AUH must have a strong working relationship with police agencies in New Castle County, the Court, and the defense bar.  The AUH must be available for mentoring and training other Deputy Attorneys General and administrative staff while overseeing cases and operations within the Unit and conducting other managerial tasks as needed.  The AUH must be willing to observe Deputy Attorneys General in trial and during other Court proceedings to provide feedback and assist if issues arise. In addition to managerial responsibilities, the AUH will manage their own caseload and bring on other Deputy Attorneys General to try cases that proceed to trial.



Job Requirements

A candidate for this leadership position should have the skills necessary to effectively manage staff, engage Deputy Attorneys General in trainings, and have a high proficiency in criminal prosecution.  This candidate must be able to evaluate cases, determine resolutions, and anticipate legal issues with the ability to research accurately and effectively.  Delaware Bar membership is required.
