Introduction
The land that became Alapocas Run State Park was donated to the city of Wilmington in the early 1900s by local industrialist William Bancroft. It eventually came to include the Blue Ball Barn, built in 1914 by Bancroft's neighbor, Alfred I. DuPont, who named the barn after an inn and meeting house that was once located near the property. Alapocas Run became a state park in 2002.
Summary Statement
This position will assist the Folk Art Collections Specialist with developing art programs for groups and the public; assist with preparing the upstairs of the Blue Ball Barn for new exhibitions; assist with Folk Art collection related research and communicate and interact in a professional manner with supervisor, Blue Ball Barn visitors, and park staff.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Folk Art Assistant

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
- At least 21 years of age.
- Possession of an Associates degree or higher in Museum studies History, American Studies or a closely related subject.
- Two years of experience with museum or archival collections and collections management software (i.e. - Past Perfect).
- Six months experience in using standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets or databases.
- Six months experience of cultural, historical resources or parks and recreation.
- Six months experience of public speaking or interpretation.
- Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
