Aviation Facilities Worker in Training - PT

Responsibilities

Cleans and performs minor maintenance tasks in airport buildings and adjacent grounds, as well as set-up and tear down of equipment used for scheduled events. The position requires little supervision in routine cleaning and minor maintenance assignments, but receives direct supervision in non-routine tasks.

Incumbents will mop, scrub, strip, wax and polish floors; polish and dust furniture; clean and polish brass; clean lavatories and replace supplies such as filling paper towel and toilet paper dispensers; dispose of waste paper; empty and clean ash containers; replace lighting fixtures and faucet gaskets; unstop clogged plumbing; oil mechanical equipment, move furniture and equipment; clean baggage claim area, sidewalls and windows in the terminal area; and set up assembly rooms.  

Minimum Qualifications

High School Graduate or (G.E.D.), AND knowledge of janitorial cleaning methods, materials and equipment.

License Requirements

Must have a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.

Background Investigation

Police and U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) fingerprint and background investigation are required to work at Dayton International Airport.

Background Check
A background investigation and evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity is required prior to employment. All candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including current city employees seeking transfer, promotion, demotion, etc. into a classified position. 

Medical Examination & Drug and Nicotine Testing 
Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination including drug screen. Applicants offered employment with the City will be required to pass a nicotine screening. Newly hired employees must remain tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment. The Tobacco and Nicotine Free Hiring Policy does not apply to current City employees.
