IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

Candidate must have proficiency in meter reading operations, including but not limited to the task of route dispatching and file transfers within the operating system. Essential duties include oversight of 8-9 meter readers to include training, oversight, evaluations, route assignments, route optimizations, fleet management, and other related supervisory duties. Candidate must have a thorough knowledge of water meter types and reading displays either analog or digital. Candidate must be able to accurately compute usage probabilities on a meter and understand the system configurations in relation to a meter having multipliers or not. Candidate must be able to use this knowledge to ensure team is performing at a high level of accuracy with the data they collect.

JOB OVERVIEW

Incumbents in this classification performs the duties of the function and performs first line supervisory field work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; and
Four years of experience directly related to the position duties.

OR

An Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university; and
Three years of experience directly related to the position duties.

OR

Graduation from an accredited four year degree granting college or university; and
One year of experience directly related to the position duties.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Determines priorities, schedules and assigns work as required.

    • Assists in the review and development of routine procedures to insure timely and accurate accomplishment of established operational goals.
    • Supervises and trains assigned staff, evaluates performance and initiates corrective action as needed.
    • Assesses staffing needs and assists in the recruitment of staff.
    • Maintains required documentation and completes reports.
    • Attends meetings as required. 
    • Participates in performing the actual work of the unit and substitutes for subordinates as needed.
    • Performs other related duties as required.

        • Tuition Reimbursement: Employees may be reimbursed up to $1,000 (undergraduate), $2000 (graduate) per fiscal year for classes at an accredited college or university for courses that enhance your ability to perform your current job duties.
        • Holidays: Employees receive up to 12 paid holidays per year.
