Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services or a related field with 18 credit hours in early childhood courses; and
Three years progressively responsible professional experience which demonstrates significant supervisory and administrative responsibilities and a strong knowledge of theories and practices of Early Childhood Education/Development with particular focus on prenatal care and infant/toddler development; and
Possession of a valid Driver License, proof of insurance and must provide own vehicle.
Within 30 days of employment must be Pediatric CPR & First Aid certified and A State of Florida Child Care and Education Program Director Credential, within the probationary period.
Proof of successful completion of the following courses:
10 hours Developmentally Appropriate Practices for Pre‐Schoolers or Infant/Toddlers Course
6 hours Child Growth and Development
6 hours Behavioral Observation & Screening
8 hours Health, Safety & Nutrition
4 hours Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect
6 hours Child Care Facility rules and Regulations
10 hours Special Needs Course
Or an equivalent combination of education (not less than a High School Diploma/GED), training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform one or more of the activities described below:
- Oversees education program, in cooperation with Operations Manager and Director.
- Supervises meal preparation and service.
- Monitors the inventory of site materials, supplies, and equipment; makes purchases for the center, staying within the site budget.
- Assures accurate, complete, and confidential maintenance of employee and client records.
- Assesses current and future facility needs, and makes preliminary arrangements with landlords to rent buildings or classrooms.
- Assures that all center-level documentation and reports are complete, up-to-date, and accurate.
- Reviews work of Senior Case Managers, Teachers and all the staff assigned to a Center to assure adherence to departmental policies and procedures; and provide procedural advices and direction.
- Monitors and conducts staff performance evaluations, work plans, development plans attendance/schedules, certifications, required documents and timecards.
- Organizes a Parent Committee, and authorizes a representative to the Agency Policy Committee.
- Attends meetings and trainings, as requested, to keep abreast of trends in the various service areas.
- Ensures teaching staff progress towards educational requirements and Professional Development Plans as supported by the Performance Standards.
- Arrange and facilitate regular meetings with staff and provide for mandated trainings and updates to policies and procedures.
- Monitor, report and provide feedback for all employee related accidents.
- Monitor, evaluate and ensure training of classroom volunteers
- Attend case management meetings, consultations, and staff meetings as necessary.
- Coordinate with local agencies, community service organizations and educational providers and partners.
- Design and deliver training and formal presentations.
- Participate in and assist with community events and provide information on the Early Head Start program.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for early childhood.
- Knowledge of adult supervision and counseling practices.
- Knowledge of behavior modification theories and practices relating to early childhood development.
- Knowledge of current educational techniques and practices relating to early childhood development.
- Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards relating to educating children.
- Knowledge of Head Start/Early Head Start program accreditation requirements. Ability to determine and prioritize demanding workload while being flexible to emergent/unplanned needs and situations.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Knowledge and experience balancing regulatory requirements with budget constraints and growing community needs.
- Significant decision making and problem solving in many areas including the allocation of resources to program components, supervisory issues, scheduling and provision of program services.
- Ability to handle highly stressful and sensitive situations in a professional manner.
- Ability to exercise tact and discretion in all employee interactions.
- Ability to interpret and implement complex policies and regulations.
