The Hillsborough County Public Works Administration is seeking an Administrative Supervisor to provide oversight and management of clerical staff in a satellite maintenance unit in the Gibsonton area. Ideally, this candidate will have an advanced, paraprofessional ability to multi-task, effectively set priorities, perform data entry, compose emails and other documents and manage the daily schedule for Section Manager and lower level clerical staff. Attention to detail is vital. Knowledge and experience in the public works or public utilities environment is preferable, but not required.


Supervises a team of employees or multiple teams with related goals in any of a large satellite maintenance unit with responsibility for monitoring work processes and ensuring quality and quantity goals are met. Ideal candidate will be bi-lingual with experience working at the para-professional level using extensive customer service skills and have in-depth knowledge of Oracle, Kronos, County policies & procedures and in enforcing policies & procedures.


Graduation from an accredited four year degree college or university: and
One year supervisory or lead worker/team leader experience at the para-professional level of administrative or office management.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit and talk or hear.

  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

    • Oversees the day-to-day administrative functions of a large satellite maintenance unit.
    • Processes travel requests, reimbursement requests, payroll requests and other employee-related administrative functions.
    • Determines priorities, schedules, and assigns work for a large team of employees or multiple teams.
    • Implements management decisions through the work of subordinate employees.
    • Supervises and coordinates activities and projects between multiple teams.
    • Assists in resolving operational and administrative problems and provides direction regarding unusual or complex problems.
    • Recommends new policies, procedures and systems to improve team operations.
    • Supervises assigned staff, evaluates performance and recommends corrective action as needed.
    • Assesses staffing needs and assists in the recruitment of staff.
    • Identifies training needs and conducts or supervises on-the-job training sessions for subordinates.
    • Maintains required documentation and completes reports.
    • Initiates and attends meetings as required.
    • May participate in performing the actual work of the unit and substitutes for subordinates as needed.
    • Performs other related duties as required.

      • Tuition Reimbursement: Employees may be reimbursed up to $1,000 (undergraduate), $2000 (graduate) per fiscal year for classes at an accredited college or university for courses that enhance your ability to perform your current job duties.
      • Holidays: Employees receive up to twelve (12) paid holidays per year.
