IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
Knowledge of the Transportation Technical Manual and Utilities Accommodation Guide
Experience with Customer Service and Permitting
Experienced in using MS Office Products (Word, Excel, etc.)
Ability to review permit applications and construction plans accurately while meeting deadlines. Ability to communicate with professional engineers, developers, contractors, and the general public in person (office and field), over the phone and through email. Knowledge and application of the transportation technical manual, land development code, GIS mapping system and utility accommodation guide and right of way use procedures manual.
Three years of experience in the investigation, evaluation, assessment, planning, design, or inspection of public infrastructure and systems.
An equivalent combination of relevant education (not less than possession of a High School diploma/GED), training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-specific competencies noted above.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform one or more of the activities described below:
- Applies broad knowledge of principles and practices to the planning, design support, construction, assessment, asset management, and maintenance of multiple municipal projects, or portions of major projects; resolves conflicts and ensures compliance with permits and regulations; prepares and monitors scopes, budgets, and schedules to ensure timely completion of projects
- Drafts or revises plans and drawings utilizing computer-aided design tools.
- Researches and conducts environmental and mapping surveys.
- Performs cost analysis and feasibility studies.
- Prepares survey reports and legal descriptions.
- Assists with preparing contract drafts; evaluates contractor proposals and assists with review of proposals for professional engineering services.
- Interacts with clients, customers, officials, contractors, and internal and external department personnel to ensure efficient flow of communication and service
- Attends preconstruction meetings and presents specific aspects of proposed and existing engineering assignments.
- Other duties as assigned
- Knowledge of fundamental engineering principles and practices for assigned functional area.
- Knowledge of engineering design criteria, standards, and applicable permit requirements.
- Knowledge of construction standards, methods, materials, and inspection techniques.
- Knowledge of field testing, sampling, and investigative techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, regulations and policies.
- Knowledge of testing and monitoring devices and techniques.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and requirements.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards and procedures.

- Employee Assistance Program: This program provides all employees and family members with professional, confidential counseling sessions. All employees and dependents are afforded up to six (6) free visits per Plan year. Coverage begins on the first day of employment.
- Tuition Reimbursement: Employees may be reimbursed up to $1,000 (undergraduate), $2000 (graduate) per fiscal year for classes at an accredited college or university for courses that enhance your ability to perform your current job duties.
- Holidays: Employees receive up to twelve (12) paid holidays per year.
