IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Familiarity with coverage, investigation and negotiation techniques
  • Florida Adjuster license is desired
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and exercise good judgment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer literacy, including working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

JOB OVERVIEW

Performs professional level work developing, organizing, administering, and evaluating assigned programs and functions, providing guidance and technical expertise to assigned program staff, other departments, the community, and program participants. Incumbent may coordinate one or more specialized programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from an accredited four year college or university; AND
  • One year of experience directly related to the assigned program.

          OR

  • An equivalent combination of education (not less than possession of a high school diploma/GED), training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.

CORE COMPETENCIES

Performs professional work planning, organizing, developing and coordinating administrative aspects of assigned programs. Develops and administers program policies and procedures, and monitors work processes to achieve program objectives.

WORK CATEGORY

Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.  If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • This position is primarily sedentary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates technical proficiency through timely, consistent execution of best claim practices and established claims handling guidelines
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external customers on claims and account issues
  • Maintain and manage a diary system and claim pending to efficiently and effectively resolve all claims
  • Familiarity with coverage, investigation and negotiation techniques
  • Performs other related duties as required.

    • Ability to evaluate, investigate and resolve claims
    • Ability establish reserves based on evaluation and adjust reserves as necessary with all new information
    • Ability to interpret routine policy contracts and coverage
    • Ability demonstrate sound analytical skills

    • Ability to plan, organize and establish priorities to maintain various responsibilities under critical deadlines
    • Ability to identify potential sources of subrogation/recovery
    • Provide excellent customer service Investigates, evaluates and resolves first party claims
    • Promptly investigates all assigned claims for coverage and subrogation/contribution
    • Ensures timely disposition of all claims in accordance with regulatory and statutory requirements
    • Within granted authority, establishes appropriate loss and expense reserves with documented rationale
    • Ability to organize and to multi-task.

    • Employee Assistance Program: This program provides all employees and family members with professional, confidential counseling sessions. All employees and dependents are afforded up to six (6) free visits per Plan year. Coverage begins on the first day of employment.
    • Tuition Reimbursement: Employees may be reimbursed up to $1,000 (undergraduate), $2000 (graduate) per fiscal year for classes at an accredited college or university for courses that enhance your ability to perform your current job duties.
    • Holidays: Employees receive up to twelve (12) paid holidays per year.

    EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

    In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department, the County’s Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration. Such assignments may be for before, during or after the emergency/disaster.
