Port Tampa Bay is Florida’s largest port, handling over 37 million tons of cargo per year. For the first half of this fiscal year, we are experiencing a 10% increase in our total cargo tonnage. Certifications preferred, but not required, include, CCNA, CCNP, MCSA, MCSE, and MCITP.


A Bachelor's Degree with a major in computer technology; and

Must demonstrate direct experience in installing, configuring, analyzing, and managing the following technologies:

  • Cisco Network Routers and Switches
  • Firewalls
  • Internet technologies: DNS and DHCP
  • Data storage, protection and recovery strategies
  • General experience with large volume storage
  • Active Directory
  • Windows Server



  • Understand fundamental concepts of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and encryption
  • Display the fundamental skills necessary for systems administration, network security
  • Demonstrates a functional knowledge of how data networking interacts with other areas of IT
  • Strong expertise in network administration, network security, flow control, routing, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol and associated protocols
  • Understands information flow to end users, team members, management staff, and external interested parties

  • Maintains and supports the LAN and WAN as required, including event monitoring, analyzing, quality of service, expansion and tuning.
  • Maintains computing environment requirements; installs upgrades; monitors and analyzes network performance.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves hardware, software, and connectivity problems, including user access and component configuration.
  • Performs firewall upgrades and router administration to include, configuring and implementing routing protocols, and establishing firewall policies.
  • Assists with communication/telephony projects as assigned.
  • Assists with network upgrades and telephony upgrades as directed.
  • Protects the integrity of organization by maintaining and keeping information confidential.
  • Assists with managing the network infrastructure to minimize downtime and increase security on the network.
  • Assists with implementing IT-related project plans and schedules to include coordinating requirements, tasks, work assignments, and resources to ensure project integrity.
  • Participates in weekly meetings with the IT team to discuss progress and issues to be resolved.
  • Completes miscellaneous tasks, functions and projects as required.
