Plans, develops, implements, manages, delivers, and evaluates District-wide comprehensive interdisciplinary training and development programs and services for various groups and individuals.
Develops and manages District-wide interdisciplinary comprehensive training and development programs and services for classified, unclassified, management, and administrative employees on a variety of program and service content areas including, but not limited to, new hire employee orientation, technical and specialized skills training, supervisory and management skills development, coaching and mentoring, career development, upward mobility, employee recognition, customer service, creative problem solving, and effective communication.
Develops and conducts needs assessments to determine current and anticipated employee training and development needs and recommends priorities, plans, and activities which address management objectives and employee interests.
Prepares clear and comprehensive grant proposals to obtain funds for the assigned programs and services.
Identifies employees for participation in training and development activities and encourages employees to enroll in offered programs and services.
Delivers training courses using lecture group discussions, small group exercises, web-based programs, e-Learning systems, pod casts, , interactive videos, and other methods.
Advises and consults with administrators, professional development staff, and other District staff in formulating and implementing training plans and special training programs and services.
Confers with various District committees, groups, and training professionals to discuss training priorities and proposals and elicit ideas and support for the programs and services.
Compiles and shares information about successfully implemented District training and employee recognition programs with District staff.
Develops and implements operating policies, guidelines, and procedures for the assigned training and development programs and services.
Develops criteria, standards, and guidelines for the evaluation of training and development programs and services.
Coordinates training and development schedules and arranges for qualified speakers and instructors, equipment, and facilities.
Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness and quality of training and development programs and services through focus groups, surveys, and other available data.
Researches information on new and emerging technologies that support training and development programs and activities.
Selects, trains, assigns, and evaluates the work of assigned staff.
Prepares a variety of training materials including manuals, brochures, and other visual aids.
Prepares reports, promotional materials, and presentations related to training and development programs and services.
Develops and maintains the District’s training and development website in collaboration with the public relations and information technology departments.
Identifies sources and evaluates consultant and vendor available training and development courses and materials; recommends purchases designed to meet the needs of the District; processes requires business, contract, and legal procurement documents in accordance with District policy.
Develops and maintains the budget for the assigned programs and services.
Represents the District at local, regional, state, and national meetings and conferences related to training and development activities.
Directs the maintenance of training files and records.
Performs related duties as assigned.
A Training and Staff Development Manager plans, develops, implements, manages, delivers, and evaluates District-wide comprehensive interdisciplinary training and development programs and services for various groups and individuals for the purpose of improving job and interpersonal skills of employees, preparing employees for career advancement, reducing turnover, providing new employees with an orientation, recognizing employees’ contributions, and responding to employees’ suggestions. Polices and content for faculty professional development activities, however, remain within the purview of the Academic Senate as provided in State law and District policy.
A Professional Development Coordinator develops, implements, manages, and evaluates customized professional development programs and activities for various groups and individuals at a college or the District Office. Polices and content for faculty professional development activities are the purview of the Academic Senate as provided in State law and District policy.
A Technical Training Coordinator plans, develops, implements, coordinates, delivers, and evaluates technical training programs focuses on specialized technology skills required by ERP systems such as SAP, Peoplesoft, and related systems and technologies.
General supervision is received from a classified administrator. Functional supervision is exercised over college staff, consultants, and vendors providing professional development programs and activities for staff. Immediate supervision is exercised over assigned technical and clerical staff.

Education:
A bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university preferably with a major in training and development, human resources, or a related field.
Experience:
Five years of professional-level full-time paid experience in developing and implementing a comprehensive employee training program. Experience in a higher education setting is desirable.
Special:
A valid Class "C" California driver's license must be obtained within 10 days of establishing residency in the State of California.
Travel to locations throughout the District is required.
