Assists in the receipt, issue storage, and shipment of supplies, goods, and equipment in a stock room.
Loads and unloads supplies, goods, and equipment onto and from pallets and shelves and lift-trucks, trucks, and other material-handling equipment.
Assists higher-level staff by performing manual and routine clerical duties in one or more of the following operations: receiving and checking items; storing stock items in a proper and efficient manner; filling and delivering orders; issuing supplies; checking and packing orders for shipment; sorting and laying out materials according to delivery locations; and taking inventory.
Keeps storage facilities and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
Delivers goods and supplies to various offices and departments.
Operates material-handling equipment in transporting supplies.
May assist in arranging for disposal of surplus equipment and furniture.
May utilize computerized systems in order to record, update, and check the status of purchase orders and inventory.
May assist in packaging orders for return shipment to publishers and other vendors.
May assist in marking and ticketing of textbooks, merchandise, supplies, and related items for pre-determined prices.
May assist in maintaining equipment, goods, and supplies in compliance with safety and insurance regulations.
May assist in stocking shelves and displays on the bookstore floor.
May assist in computing selling price for books.
May assist customers in locating and selecting merchandise.
Performs related duties as assigned.
A Stock Control Aide assists in the performance of manual and limited clerical duties in connection with a store keeping or supply operation.
A Stock Control Assistant performs manual and clerical storekeeping duties and may be responsible for a small supply operation.
A Stock Control Supervisor supervises and participates in the performance of manual and clerical storekeeping duties in connection with a central storekeeping operation.
Immediate supervision is received from a classified supervisor. Work direction may be received from a Stock Control Assistant. No supervision is exercised.
Knowledge of:
Proper methods of handling, storing, wrapping, packing, and delivering various types of items, including fragile and perishable goods
Proper use of material-handling equipment
Safety practices used in storekeeping operations
Simple clerical operations connected with storekeeping
Proper methods for lifting and moving heavy objects
Basic recordkeeping procedures
Basic features of computer equipment
Skill in:
Operating material-handling equipment
Ability to:
Lift and move heavy supplies and equipment safely
Exercise proper judgment in loading, operating, and unloading material-handling equipment

Education:
Graduation from high school or its equivalent.
Experience:
Paid experience in receiving, storing, or issuing supplies and equipment is desirable.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Special:
A valid Class āCā California driver's license may be required for some positions.
Travel to locations throughout the District may be required for some positions.
