Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of the position is to assist local Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) with MFP Options Counseling (MFP OC), which provides information about available services and supports in the community for individuals in nursing facilities, who may be transitioning back to a community setting, and with application assistance for individuals who have the opportunity to apply for the Home and Community-Based Options Waiver Program, and want to live in their own home. Additionally, the MFP OC Liaison will conduct monitoring activities associated with the provision of MFP Options Counseling by the local AAAs.  This position serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

STATEWIDE TRAVEL IS REQUIRED

POSITION DUTIES

Assist local Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) with the provision of MFP OC as needed.

Provide information to the local AAA/MAP sites and their sub-contracting partners on MFP OC policies and procedures, answer their inquiries and provide guidance to them regarding their interpretation and application of program policies and procedures.

Utilize a web-based tracking system to generate MFP OC monitoring reports.

Assist with monitoring the provision, timeliness, and quality of MFP OC conducted by the local AAAs and their sub-contracting partner to ensure individuals in nursing facilities are provided MFP OC in accordance with guidelines and timeframe requirements.

Assist with logging in the processing monthly submissions of MFP OC invoices.

The ideal candidate should also have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, function as a member of a team, and have strong written and oral communications skills and be proficient in Excel. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above at the rate of one year experience for 30 credit hours of education for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

One year experience working in a long-term services and supports program for older adults and/or individuals with disabilities.

One year experience working in customer service.

One year experience conducting monitoring activities.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

This position is assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
