Main Purpose of Job

This position provides broad-based administrative support to all six Sections in the Office of School and Community Nutrition Programs specific to: event planning, document management, resource management, program evaluation and assessment, communications, administrative assistance, and general technical assistance to Agencies. The position assures effective, productive, and accurate daily operations in an environment conducive to efficiency.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Providing Leadership
    • Interprets rules and regulations in accordance with MSDE and Office of School and Community Nutrition Programs (OSCNP) policies   
    •  Manages the planning and implementation of all events and meetings for the Child Nutrition Programs (CNP) administered by the Office of School and Community Nutrition Programs (OSCNP)
    • Coordinates required logistics for successful CNP training in consult with PD/TA specialist and other OSCNP        
  • Building Internal/External Capacity
    • Provides support to customers by answering questions or directing incoming telephone calls, faxes, and/or emails to appropriate staff  to carry out Community Nutrition Program objectives        
  •  Meeting Operational Standard o  
    •  Monitors entries for grants and assist with special projects  
    • Prepares statistical tables, charts, reports, and work-flow charts        
  •  Accountability o  
    • Ensures that all necessary components for conducting Professional Development and completing the training are complete, correct, and in place in a timely manner

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree froma an accredited college or university.

EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

One year of advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (specifically in Excel and Word) experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications are preferred, not required:

  • Experience analyzing and interpreting State and Federal rules and regulations
  • Experience planning and coordinating professional events
  • Experience in procurement

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
