POSITION DUTIES

This position promotes achievement of Department of Human Services (DHS), Citizen's Review Board for Children (CRBC) program's mission and goals by: 1) Planning, organizing, implementing a variety of statewide community recruitment activities. 2) Recruiting volunteers for all CRBC local Boards statewide. 3) Assist with planning, organizing and facilitating required CRBC new member volunteer orientation and training and refresher trainings. 4) Supporting activities of State Board and volunteers statewide. 5) Provide supervision to CRBC Volunteer Activities Coordinator and support staff

Recruits volunteers for all CRBC local boards statewide; coordinates community recruitment efforts in all 23 counties and Baltimore City; represents CRBC Informational/Recruitment table at statewide, community and DHS events; provides detailed monthly written reports to CRBC Administrator; manages volunteer appointment and re-appointment process; collaborates with CRBC Administrator/Administrative Team about monthly website updates and events.

Manages and monitors data entry, completion and mailing of review notifications and recommendation reports in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) and CRBC guidelines; manages and monitors volunteer member attendance and 50% process; manages and monitors tracking of volunteer telephone, e-mail, and webpage inquiries.

Creates and implements community recruitment relationship plan; maintains relationships with collaborative partners and cultivates new ones; attends relevant community meetings and participates in State Board meetings as needed; maintains a monthly community events calendar; works with CRBC staff and volunteers to develop recruitment activities; collaborates with CRBC Administrator about community recruitment advertising efforts.

Plans, organizes and facilitates required CRBC new member volunteer orientation and training; assists the Information Technology Officer in monitoring, testing and updating CRBC's data management system; corresponds with the Governor's Appointments Office and DHS's Secretary Office to process volunteer related information; organizes meetings including meeting date and setting up conference calls, etc.; prepares correspondences, reports, flyers, newsletters and other documents as required, utilizing Microsoft Word and publishing software; and performs other related assigned duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university to include 30 credit hours in social sciences, journalism, or public relations or a related field.

Experience: Three years of experience involving planning, coordinating and evaluating volunteer activities in a state facility, institution or community-based program.

Notes:

1. Additional experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Graduate level education in social sciences, journalism, public relations or a related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for experience at a rate of 30 college credits for up to two years of the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

2. Persons appointed to positions in this classification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Persons appointed to positions in this classification will be required to provide the facility with a telephone number at which they can be reached.
