Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to provide maintenance support for the Baltimore City Department of Social services Division of Support Operations Unit, to assist the Building and Service Supervisor. Tasks are normally assigned through the BCDSS Work Order System and to ensure the agency operates efficiently and provide resources to 2400 plus employees that are located in BCDSS’s facilities throughout Baltimore City.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must meet all minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.
Education: Eighth grade.
Experience: Four years of experience in the building maintenance or building construction trades including three years of experience assigning, reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
1. One year of experience working in public sector or government facilities.
2. One year of experience in prioritizing, coordinating and completing work orders for the facility.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
