LOCATION OF POSITION

7800 Harkins Road, Lanham, MD 20706.

The Department of Housing and Community Development Headquarters is located in Prince George's County across from the New Carrollton Metro stop.

POSITION DUTIES

The Office of Statewide Broadband has an immediate opening for an Administrator II. This position is responsible for overseeing the entire encumbrance and payment operations for the Office of Statewide Broadband. The incumbent will be responsible for the review and processing of grant/loan payments and assistance with grant application reviews. The incumbent must closely monitor and track funds that have been encumbered (over $40,000,000 in current projects) as it includes the Broadband Infrastructure, Expansion, Feasibility, and Digital Equity encumbrances.   Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for the organization, implementation and administration of the Office’s policies, directives and procedures as designed to accomplish the mission of the Office.  Compile financial reports that reflect the disbursement status of funding and provide to the Director along with any recommendations. The desired incumbent must be able to evaluate the efficiency of our operations and develop new workflow procedures if needed to ensure that the Office is running efficiently and effectively.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required general experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in financial tracking. 

Experience in project management.  

Experience with broadband and/or other utility services (water, sewage, electric, telecommunications).

Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

Successful candidates must document eligibility to work in the U.S. upon hire. The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development is not sponsoring new employees in application of the H-1B Visa at this time due to budgetary constraints.
