LOCATION OF POSITION
MDH Potomac Center, Hagerstown MD
POSITION DUTIES
This Security Officer position is responsible for covering a routine security shift(s) as assigned. During those shifts, the position will conduct security rounds of the facility checking the physical security of the facility, checking fire extinguishers and other safety equipment, and reporting any safety or security related defects or anomalies. Security Officers will have access to security monitors and will be responsible for monitoring the security video during their watch. Security Officers will respond to all codes to assist with resident and staff safety. Security Officers will monitor the Center’s gate; monitoring access to the Center. Security Officers are also on call to any emergency at the facility, as necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Ability to read and write.
Experience: Six months of experience in building security work.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Master-At-Arms classifications or law enforcement specialty codes in the site security field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess experience providing security in an environment with intellectually disabled individuals.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employees in this classification are subject to call 24 hours a day and, therefore, will be required to provide the employer with a telephone number where they can be reached.
2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 06.01.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
